AGM members from across the United States – and the world – will gather today at the Orange County Convention Center (Hall E/F meeting rooms) for the annual AGM Retail Conference.
This year’s lineup includes member voting; retail roundtable discussions for private, resort and public/off-course facilities; educational sessions; and the always highly anticipated AGM Platinum Awards honoring 100 of the top-merchandised golf shops.
“The annual AGM Retail Conference is clearly the largest gathering of our members,” says Desane Blaney, Executive Director of the AGM. “It serves as the perfect venue to enhance their professional development with relevant and timely retail-related education and ideas which, with implementation, will translate to increased profitability at their facilities.”
The educational seminars will include “Avoiding the Markdown Spiral” presented by Paul Erickson of Management One; “Building an Online Retail Shop – From Start-Up to Live!” by Leigha Main Turner, Director of Retail at Baltusrol Golf Club and a member of the AGM Education Team; “Got Jonas Questions? Come Get Answers!” by Jeremy Hoch, Anchor Consulting Services; and “Color Your World” by Laurie Pressman, VP of The Pantone Institute.
Also included in the day’s programming is a designer panel discussion with representatives from Ahead, Foray Golf, Oxford, and Puma. It will be moderated by AGM President Tracy Moffatt of K & K Consulting.
The keynote address, “Grow Your Business with Email and Social Media,” will be given by Ron Cates — a “digital marketing icon,” according to Forbes magazine — who has spoken at hundreds of high-profile conferences and events around the world reaching more than 200,000 small businesses. The session will cover the core elements of a successful marketing strategy, including both budget and time constraints, low-cost and no-cost online marketing tools that are simple and effective, and strategies that tie them together.
“Attendees will leave ready and equipped to do email and social better than some of the world’s most famous brands,” Cates says. “Marketing experts will learn new tricks, and absolute beginners will never feel lost.”
Following the presentation of the AGM Platinum Awards for excellence in merchandising, members will gather for the Product Preview and Reception (Hall E/F lobby), which gives members a sneak peak at the new fall collections from AGM Vendor Partners. “Our Product Preview is an unsurpassed networking opportunity whereby AGM Vendor Partners showcase their collections prior to the opening of the show floor, which enables them to meet and interact with the buyers in an intimate social setting,” Blaney adds.
