The AGM’s 2019 Orlando Retail Conference, held today at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Hall A of the lower level, marks the beginning of the organization’s 30th year.
“We’ll be honoring our legacy and unveiling plans for our future,” says Desane Blaney, Executive Director of the AGM (Association of Golf Merchandisers).
Today’s AGM activities will include a full day of educational seminars, the annual Platinum Awards honoring excellence in golf shop merchandising, and the AGM Product Preview and Reception, which gives members a sneak peak at the new fall collections from AGM Vendor Partners. The always-popular AGM Product Preview and Reception will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Hall A lobby.
PGA Members will receive six MSR credits for attending the AGM’s Orlando Retail Conference. Those attending only the AGM Product Preview and Reception will receive two MSR credits.
Among the scheduled seminars are: “Six Elements of a Winning Retail Strategy” presented by Paul Erickson of Management One; “Evaluating the Success of a Sub-Category in Your Merchandise Mix” (Leigha Main Turner, Director of Retail, Baltusrol Golf Club); “Polish Your Skills” (Henry DeLozier, Partner, Global Golf Advisors); and “The Psychology of Price” (Paul Erickson, Management One).
In addition, the keynote address – Attitude of Championship Customer Service – will be given at approximately 3:30 p.m. by Aaron Davis of Aaron Davis Presentations, a coach, business consultant and motivational speaker.
According to Blaney, the AGM’s Orlando Retail Conference is a must for AGM members looking to step things up in 2019. “I have a saying, ‘You have to change the way you do business to stay in business,’” she says. “The retail landscape continues to change, and it is critically important for merchandisers to keep current with what’s happening, particularly in mainstream retail, and adapt by incorporating new ideas and fresh perspectives.”
