Many leading equipment companies have been launching new drivers, fairways, hybrids, iron sets, putters, wedges, shafts, launch monitors and other innovative products this week at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show. And attendees at The MAJOR of Golf Business continued to test all the new products at the Equipment Test Center, conveniently located at the west end of the PGA Show floor, throughout the entirety of PGA Show Week.
“We always make time on our schedules to hit the latest clubs at the ETC,” said Brent Lingel, PGA Professional at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona. “We place most of our equipment orders for the year at the PGA Show, so when we find something that looks nice and we think we might want to bring it into our shop, we make a list and go hit everything at the Equipment Test Center to see how they feel and perform in real time.”
Some 40 companies made their newest products available for hands-on testing and evaluation within 50 hitting bays and a nearby large putting green. Brands included Bridgestone Golf, Callaway Golf, Cobra Puma Golf, FlightScope, Lynx Golf, Mizuno Golf, Ping, Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO, Tour Edge Golf, Wilson Golf and Yonex Golf. Several putter companies, shaft manufacturers, launch-monitor and swing analysis firms, and training-aid distributors also have their products available for testing.
“The Equipment Test Center is convenient for those PGA Professionals and retail shop managers who don’t make it out to the Demo Day, or who see our products at the PGA Show and want to test them after we discuss the benefits of those products,” explained Tim Clarke, President of Wilson Golf.
