Hornung’s Golf Products, Inc. (booth 2965), a family-owned golf wholesale business in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, specializing in golf accessories, gifts, novelty items and course equipment, is celebrating two major milestones at the PGA Merchandise Show this week. First, Hornung’s is marking its 82nd year in the golf industry. Second, Hornung’s President Bob Hornung Jr. is commemorating his 50th consecutive year at the PGA Show.
“I’m the third generation, with grandpa Clarence starting the business in 1937,” said Bob Hornung Jr. Clarence died in 1959 and then Bob Sr. took the reins until 1991, when he passed on, and I have been leading the wholesale/distribution company since then. Mom (Gretchen) was Vice President and attended 59 consecutive PGA Shows until her death this past May, and just last month my wife (Lori) has taken over her position with the company.”
How has Hornung’s Golf Products survived and thrived for so many years in the golf business?
“We have maintained a successful business model for the past 80-plus years by charging a fair price and maintaining the best service possible,” explained Hornung. “Our objectives at this PGA Show is to meet, greet and service our customers with new products and selling programs that will contribute to their profitability. Being part of the golf industry for 80-plus years, the PGA Show is a great gathering of customers, vendors and competitors to communicate how the sport and industry can grow going forward.”
