Informative PGA Education Conference Seminars Set for Thursday

PGA Professionals and PGA Merchandise Show attendees will learn from a leaderboard of influential, national-level experts from the world of business, golf operations and golf instruction Thursday during PGA Education Conference seminars in classrooms on the second floor of the Orange County Convention Center.

         In the Executive Management track, Michael Leemhuis, PGA, CCM, CCE, will deliver “So You Want to be a COO/GM at a Private Club – General Management 101” at 7:30 a.m. in Room W230D. The former president of the Ocean Reef Club, CEO of Congressional Country Club and president of the Club Managers Association in 2009, will also host “Distinguishing Yourself in the Executive Search Process” with PGA Career Services Senior Director Scott Kmiec at 11:15 a.m. in the same classroom.

         Thursday highlights in the Teaching & Coaching track include PGA Master Professional Dr. Alison Curdt presenting “Creating Confident Golfers” at 7:30 a.m. in Classroom W230B. Todd Sones, the 2019 National PGA Horton Smith Award recipient, will present “Helping Your Students Reach Their Scoring Potential Through Short Game and Putting Coaching” in Room W230B at 10 a.m. Renowned instructor David Leadbetter (pictured), founder and president of David Leadbetter Golf Academies, will provide a Teaching & Coaching perspective on Youth Development in Room W230B at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.

         Five seminars are also scheduled Thursday in the Golf Operations track, including “The No. 1 Secret That All Successful Clubs Possess” at 7:30 a.m. in Room WF3 and “Winning the Customer – Understanding the Mind of the Customer” at 11:15 a.m. in Room W230C hosted by PGA Life Member Cary Cavitt, the author of eight books on various aspects of golf-course operations. Leigha Turner, director of retail operations at Baltursol Country Club in Springfield, will also present “Markdowns and Clearance Planning” at 1:45 p.m. in Room W230C.

         Some 15 PGA Education Conference seminars are scheduled today (Thursday), with PGA Professionals receiving one MSR credit for each seminar attended. Click here for Thursday’s complete schedule of seminars.
