PGA Education Conference Offers Variety of Insightful Seminars

The classrooms on the main floor of the Orange County Convention Center are nearly as busy as the PGA Show floor this week, with the golf industry’s foremost experts delivering more than 50 seminars as part of the PGA Education Conference.

PGA Professionals are enhancing their careers and earning valuable MSR credits, while other industry insiders are learning fresh ideas for growing rounds, revenue and members. The PGA Education Conference expanded in 2019, with sessions focusing on Executive Management, Golf Operations and Teaching & Coaching beginning on Tuesday of PGA Merchandise Show Week, one day earlier than usual, and continuing daily through Friday.

A full schedule of PGA Education Conference seminars is scheduled for Thursday, including a panel discussion at 11 a.m. in Room 101 titled “The Golf Innovators Panel” moderated by Colin Weston, host of the ModGolf Podcast. Weston will ask an all-star panel of entrepreneurs to share their journey about putting together successful golf ventures.

The panelists include Dave Cavossa, Founder and CEO of CaddieNow; Joanne Cloak, Founder and CEO of JoFit; Donna Hoffman, Founder and President of Women On Course; and Jeehae Lee, Director of Business Strategy for TopGolf Media.

Two popular presentations Wednesday included  “Coaching Juniors in the Mental Game,” taught by PGA and LPGA Master Professional Alison Curdt of Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, California, and “How Teaching and Club Fitting Should Always Be Tied Together,” taught by Todd Sones, PGA, of Impact Golf/Scoring Zone Golf Schools in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

“The Education Conference seminars at the PGA Show in Orlando are always exceptional, especially in the Teaching & Coaching track, which is my area of emphasis,” said Linda Campbell, a U.S. Kids Top 50 teacher at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius, N.C. “Hearing Alison Curdt speak is always so enlightening and inspiring. I take home a lot of new teaching and coaching ideas and strategies every year.”
