Titleist officially launched a series of new products, celebrated a clean sweep of all equipment categories at the Sony Open in Hawaii on the PGA Tour a week previous, and spoke of its ongoing relationship with PGA Professionals in a special presentation in the Chapin Theater to tee off the 2019 PGA Merchandise Show Wednesday morning.
Longtime Titleist staff professional Brad Faxon and Shane Bacon – who anchor USGA championships coverage for Fox Sports – hosted the presentation. Faxon noted that he has been a Titleist ambassador his entire career of 36 years since working with PGA Professional Fred Bruno in Barrington, Rhode Island, as a young player.
PGA Tour regulars Charles Howell III and Cameron Smith appeared via satellite from Torrey Pines in California to share their experiences with Titleist equipment. John Screen, vice president of sales for Titleist, closed the presentation by thanking PGA Professionals for serving as the golf conduit between the company and golfers of all skill levels.
Titleist officials introduced new 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls – engineered for more speed – at the presentation, and showed a quick video of two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson “experimenting” with a bright yellow Pro V1, which is expected to hit the marketplace soon. Smith showed off the new Titleist AP2 718 Black irons from Torrey Pines, while Howell talked about increased accuracy with his Titleist equipment. Titleist also showed off its new TS metals, Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters, and Vokey Blue Slate wedges.
