As a special thank you to PGA of America Golf Professionals, exhibitors and golf industry professionals who support the continued growth of the game, the PGA Show is hosting the inaugural Winter Jam concert, supported by adidas and Corebridge Financial, featuring country music star Jake Owen and additional music acts on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the new concert lounge located in Hall E of the Orange County Convention Center.
All registered PGA Show attendees are invited to attend the Winter Jam concert, with PGA Show badges serving as tickets for the complimentary event on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Winter Jam will highlight PGA HOPE Day at the PGA Show, with PGA HOPE the concert’s charitable partner. Veterans, active military, PGA HOPE certified PGA of America Golf Professionals, PGA HOPE Ambassadors, and PGA HOPE graduates registered for the PGA Show will be honored as special guests.
The country rock band Back Country Boys will open the PGA Show Winter Jam at 6 p.m., followed by headliner Jake Owen. DJ Spencer Ludwig will close out the concert after Owen.
Still a golf aficionado, Owen had aspirations of one day traveling the PGA Tour, but his hopes were dashed when he injured his shoulder in a wakeboarding accident while in college at Florida State University. Sidelined by the injury, Owen traded golf clubs for a guitar – and the rest country music history.
“To pass the time, I just started teaching myself to play (the guitar),” Owen notes. “I couldn’t swing a golf club, but I could play the guitar.”
Owen was close to graduating from college with a double major in English and political science when he realized he wanted to pursue music full-time.
Today, the singer-songwriter is a country music mainstay, with 10 No.1 singles, more than 2.5 billion U.S. on-demand streams and a career collection of gold and platinum records.
Owen, 42, competes annually in the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the PGA TOUR, teaming up with Jordan Spieth. He also competed in the Nashville Open on the Nationwide Tour a few years ago, and he plays in various celebrity and charity events with Peyton Manning and others.
